Estate Planning

“What will happen after we’re gone?” is a question that parents of a son or daughter with FASD are concerned about, particularly when the family member is still living with them. Parents may wonder where their son or daughter will live and how they will be supported in their daily lives, when they are no longer able to provide care. The concern increases as the parents age and may face declining health.

The ARC of the United States has developed a Family Handbook for Future Planning, a guide to help families develop a future plan for their sons or daughters with cognitive, intellectual or developmental disabilities that provides personal, financial and legal protections for these individuals after the parents either die or can no longer provide care or support.
