January 2007

In January the members of the Steering Committee participated in planning retreats. January 19th the Parent representatives to the Steering Committee meet and developed a strategic plan for implementation in the calendar year 2007. The Parents developed a plan that will expand the scope and reach of the current Parent Network. They have plans for bi monthly meetings and a regional approach for collaboration at the local level. They have a clear direction for the next year.

January 30th the State Agency representatives to the steering committee came together for a planning retreat of their own. The agencies brought their current plans that were developed February 2006 in order to establish where we were, where we are currently and where we still need and want to go. By looking at what progress we have made the agencies were able to make some broad generalizations about the overall State progress toward our long term goals and some very specific statements that reflect the activities that they have achieved in their respective agencies. The documents from each of the retreats will be compiled into the plan for the State Initiative for 2007.

2009 New partnerships strengthen the FASD Initiative

Two significant additions were made to the State Steering Committee. The Family and Children First Intersystems Coordinators Association designated a member to participate in the initiative and also brought a key stakeholder from the Montgomery County FASD Project.  In addition a partnership was developed with the Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence (OCALI). With a shared interest in the success of all our families this has been an invaluable addition to the committee.
