The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) strives to protect and improve the health of all Ohioans through partnerships with 135 local health departments and members of our medical and health communities. We work with them to prevent disease, injury and premature death, support healthy lifestyles and assure the quality of health care services.
We also work to ensure Ohio children are healthy and safe. For instance, ODH provides funding and administrative support to Ohio’s initiative to establish efficiency in state resource allocation, coordinate services and augment available resources to address Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD).
Among ODH’s goals are promoting awareness, educating ODH employees and partners on FASD, developing a data collection system to assist in diagnoses and developing a pilot project to test a screening tool in foster and adoption services programs.
