FASD-classroom issues and strategies

The morning session of the workshop will be designed to cover the characteristics of FASD and how children in a classroom setting display them. This session will form the basis for the strategies discussed in the afternoon session. A speaker/facilitator will be providedfor each group. For the workshops in Athens and Bellaire the afternoon session will include only school based providers. The afternoon sessions will focus on strategies for working with children with FASD particularly in the classroom setting.

 

FASD community based training

This training will cover: The cause and prevalence of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and Alcohol Related Neurodevelopmental Disorders (FASD/ARND) and how it can be prevented; indicators that an individual might have FASD and when to seek a diagnosis; and behavior characteristics of individuals with FASD/ARND and strategies to address these behaviors.

Tis session will focus on how behaviors result frombrain dysfunction and how this information helps in creating and applying strategies that will be effective in working with individuals with FASD/ARND.
