Description: Often the success of working with families depends upon the ability of the parent or parents to effectively perform their role or roles. Many times poor parental performance is due to a lack of confidence in the role. This workshop will assist parents and mental health workers with many of the following questions: Do you know where you stand as a parent? *Have you ever wondered why you can be good at your job, professional in your interactions with other adults, composed in crises that are outside of your family, but constantly feel tested and frustrated dealing with your children? Do you want the best for your children, but you are not sure what the best way to teach your children is? These problems are common to all parents, be we can get through them with less pain and more positive outcomes for ourselves and for our children if we can raise and maintain our confidence in our roles as parents. This workshop is not about strategies for handling children, but rather it is about parents and parenting. It will focus on how to raise your confidence in order to more effectively be a parent who feels secure rather than one filled with doubt.
