About OPFY

On January 29, 2004 representatives of youth serving organizations and programs gathered to effect the future forever. They agreed and committed to teach and model for youth within their organizations to reach out and partner with other youth groups around the cornerstones of community service, prevention, and positive youth development

Vision

Youth organizations join forces and work together to assure that Ohio youth have the skills, character, and opportunity to achieve their greatest potential as responsible citizens.

Mission

The Ohio Partnership for Youth cultivates cooperative partnerships among youth organizations by promoting community service, prevention, and positive youth development as cornerstones for success.

Goals

Phase One: Build awareness and promote partnership among youth organizations around the three cornerstones of community service, prevention and positive youth development a t both the state and community level .

Goal 1: Convene representatives from Ohio's programs and organizations serving youth to:

  • Promote and support the vision and mission of the partnership
  • Identify strategies to encourage successful partnership at the local level
  • Develop plans to sustain partnership efforts

Target audience: Youth Organizations and Programs

Target date: January 25, 2004

Goal 2: Disseminate information through written media and Internet resources to:

  • Market the ideals of the Partnership and expand its membership
  • Increase community awareness of organizations and programs serving youth
  • Promote collaboration, partnership, and outreach around the three cornerstones
  • Identify available resources to support partnership efforts
  • Articulate effective practices related to the three cornerstones

Target audience: Adult leaders of groups and organizations serving youth

Target date: June 30, 2004

Goal 3: Convene the Ohio Partnership for Youth Summit to:

  • Challenge youth organizations to explore and implement shared agendas
  • Expand awareness of youth organizations and resources
  • Present available resources for supporting partnering efforts
  • Communicate effective strategies under the three cornerstones
  • Highlight and revitalize youth partnership efforts

Target audience: Youth and their adult leaders

Target date: October 31, 2004
